Cameron opposes “NATO soldiers killing Russian soldiers”

May 3, 2024

British Foreign Secretary David Cameron has warned against French President Emmanuel Macron's idea to consider sending NATO troops to Ukraine in the event of a theoretical breakthrough by Russian forces.

He said this in an interview with Sky News during his visit to Lviv on May 3.

According to Cameron, sending NATO troops to Ukraine to fight the Russians would be a “dangerous escalation.”

“I don't think it's right to have NATO soldiers killing Russian soldiers,” he said.

Separately, the British Foreign Secretary noted that Europe has “two options for the future.” In one, Ukrainian forces with Western weapons are able to drive out the Russian invaders and ensure a “just peace.”
