May 3, 2024

The Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Estonian Defense Forces, Colonel Mart Vendla, believes that Russia has increased the intensity of its attacks in Ukraine, trying to seize more territory before military aid from the United States arrives in Ukraine.

This was reported by ERR.

According to Wendley, Russia is trying to take advantage of the window of opportunity before Western aid arrives in Ukraine. However, the progress of Russian troops is localized, and a major breakthrough is not expected.

Russian forces are most active in the Donetsk sector, where the center of the fighting is near the town of Chasiv Yar.

There are no signs of the town's imminent fall, but the Estonian General Staff representative added that given the previous series of very intense shelling of towns such as Bakhmut, it is possible that Chasiv Yar will fall.
