This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Reuters.

According to the publication, this decision of the French indicates a potential split in the Western camp with several countries. In particular, we are talking about the Baltic States, which are strongly opposed to giving Putin any form of legitimacy and potentially undermining Ukraine in its war with Russia.

"France will be represented by its ambassador to Russia," a French diplomatic source said.

According to the source, Paris has previously condemned the way Russia's elections were conducted. In particular, France considers the elections to be violations of international law.
