AFU destroy a Russian self-propelled artillery system

Apr 3, 2023

Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine literally destroyed a 122-mm self-propelled artillery system 2C1 "Gvozdika" of the Russian occupiers in the Donetsk region.

This was reported today by the Telegram channel "War in Ukraine. Loss of equipment". However, it published an eloquent photo.

Firstly, it shows that the self-propelled artillery system was standing in a firing position in a caponir (a protective pit into which vehicles enter to fire), with shell casings scattered about.

Secondly, the turret of the smashed Gvozdika was torn off. This means that its own shells exploded before it had time to fire.

It is highly likely that the UAV was hit by the Ukrainian Armed Forces while firing, i.e. during counter-battery combat. However, it is difficult to say what exactly hit it and what the fate of the crew was.
