Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit Russia in 2025. He has met with Vladimir Putin several times since Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
This was stated by Moscow's ambassador to Beijing, Igor Morgulov, RBC-Ukraine reports citing Reuters.
“What is not a secret is that the President of the People's Republic of China is expected to visit Russia as a matter of priority next year,” Morgulov told Russian state news agency RIA Novosti.
Putin visited China in February 2022, proclaiming a partnership “without restrictions” within days of the invasion of Ukraine. Xi Jinping paid a state visit to Moscow in March 2023. It was his first international visit after being re-elected to a third term.
Putin was in Beijing again last May, after his re-election, declaring a “new era” of relations centered on confronting US policies.
Morgulov also told RIA Novosti that China, which has refrained from condemning Russia's 34-month war against Ukraine, understands the basis of the conflict “because they are facing many of the same problems - the US and its allies are increasing pressure on China in the Asia-Pacific region.”
According to him, NATO is allegedly “developing plans to move its military infrastructure” to the region. According to him, Russia and China should jointly respond to US policy.
“In the international arena, our countries must respond with further 'double counteraction' to the 'double deterrence' that the West is trying to conduct against Russia and China,” Morgulov said.
