Apr 14, 2023

U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin ordered to check access to intelligence data after the arrest of a member of the Air National Guard suspected of leaking Pentagon data.

This was reported by CNN.

According to Austin, the review will be conducted by the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security. He will also examine the department's "accountability and control procedures within the Department to inform our efforts to prevent this kind of incident from happening again."

“As Secretary of Defense, I will also not hesitate to take any additional measures necessary to safeguard our nation’s secrets,” Austin said.

As a reminder, last week, classified U.S. documents were leaked online that contain information about Ukraine and its preparations for a counteroffensive.

Jack Teixeira, a suspect in the leak, was detained on Thursday, April 13. His trial will take place on April 14.
