Austria to provide additional EUR 1 million for IAEA activities

On Monday, Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg announced the allocation of an additional 1 million euros to finance the work of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Ukraine.

According to APA, Schallenberg made the announcement at the IAEA General Conference in Vienna.

In his speech, the Austrian Foreign Minister reminded that Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine has been going on for 19 months, and during this time Moscow has shown "unacceptable and irresponsible" behavior, including in the issue of nuclear safety.

"We are meeting at a time when war is raging in Europe," he emphasized.

Schallenberg said that the occupation of the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, Zaporizhzhia, by Russian troops continues and noted the IAEA's activities to prevent nuclear incidents.

In this regard, he announced the allocation of an additional million euros for the organization's activities in Ukraine.
