Jul 13, 2023

Following the summit between the United States and the Nordic countries in Finland on Friday, the leaders of these states promised to continue to support Ukraine as long as necessary.

This is stated in a statement released by the White House press service.

On July 13, 2023, the presidents of Finland and the United States, as well as the prime ministers of Denmark, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden, met in Helsinki for the third summit of the leaders of the United States and the Nordic countries.

At the meeting, the Nordic countries and the United States reaffirmed their unequivocal condemnation of Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine.

"They pledged to continue to support Ukraine for as long as necessary, including through sustained security, economic, legal, and humanitarian assistance," the White House said in a statement.

The leaders also pledged to continue diplomatic efforts to build the broadest possible international support for a just and lasting peace in Ukraine based on the principles of the United Nations Charter.

This includes enhanced engagement and dialogue with global partners on the challenges facing Ukraine because of the war, the White House emphasized.
