Biden names the only obstacle to peace in Ukraine

The only obstacle to a peaceful settlement in Ukraine is Russia's actions. This was stated by US President Joe Biden in his speech at the UN General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, September 19.

"Russia's illegal, unprovoked, aggressive war against its neighbor Ukraine is illegal. Like every country in the world, the United States wants this war to end. No country wants this war to end more than Ukraine. We strongly support Ukraine in its efforts to reach a diplomatic solution that will ensure a just and lasting peace. Only Russia, only Russia is responsible for this war," he said.

Joe Biden emphasized that only Russia can immediately put an end to the war against Ukraine.

"And only Russia stands on the path to peace because the price for peace for Russia is the surrender of Ukraine, the territory of Ukraine, and the children of Ukraine. Russia believes that the world will get tired and allow it to mistreat Ukraine without consequences. But I ask you: if we abandon the basic principles of the United States to appease the aggressor, will any member state of this body be able to feel confident in its protection? If we allow Ukraine to be divided, will the independence of any nation be ensured? I would respectfully suggest that the answer is no," the US President said.

He called for countering this "blatant aggression today and deterring other potential aggressors tomorrow."

"That's why the United States, along with our allies and partners around the world, will continue to support the brave people of Ukraine as they defend their sovereignty, territorial integrity, and freedom," the president assured.

According to Biden, this is an investment not only in the future of Ukraine but also in the future of every country that seeks peace, which is "based on basic rules that apply equally to all nations and support the rights of every nation, no matter how big or small."
