The US is working on a new aid package for Ukraine. It will be announced by the end of this month.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan at the Yalta European Strategy Forum, as quoted by Interfax-Ukraine.
He noted that the United States is working on a substantial package for Ukraine with various options, which could be announced by the end of September.
Sullivan noted that he meets with his team daily to provide Ukraine with the tools and means to stabilize the frontline and to make sure that Russian offensives are met with stiff resistance. He added that Russia is also being denied the opportunity to make a breakthrough to advance further.
Joe Biden's advisor recalled that in April, before Congress approved funding for Ukraine, there was a fear that the front line might collapse. However, Ukraine's defenses have become stronger in many critical places, and Ukraine has taken bold and decisive steps in the war as it moves forward.
He also commented on the delays in aid, noting that it is not a matter of political will but of logistics. According to him, the United States is literally pulling 155 mm caliber shells off the assembly line and delivering them to the front line as fast as they can.
As another example of support, Sullivan cited the difficult decision to redirect all Patriot missiles to Ukraine, which were to be delivered to partners and allies in the coming year.
“I said: take all these missiles, every single one of them, and send them to Ukraine... And if you look at the cost of this, it's a lot of money, given the number, scale and intensity of these deliveries since the beginning of the war. I'm proud of what we've done, but as President Zelensky said on stage, given what Ukraine is facing, we have to do more and better, and I agree with that,” the Biden adviser emphasized.
