Biden to host leadership of EU institutions at the White House
On October 20, US President Joe Biden will host European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel at the White House.
This was reported by Reuters with reference to a high-ranking EU official.
Among the bilateral issues they will discuss are steel tariffs, the agency noted.
Earlier, the United States agreed to suspend steel and aluminum tariffs with the EU imposed by former President Donald Trump with a deadline of the end of October.
This was done in order to conclude an agreement to promote green manufacturing and overcapacity.
The agreement is to be part of the so-called Global Steel and Aluminum Agreement, which the EU and the Biden administration have been negotiating since 2021.
