US President Joe Biden will host outgoing NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at the White House on June 12.
This was announced in a statement by White House spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre, according to Yevropeiska Pravda.
Jean-Pierre said that Stoltenberg will visit the White House to discuss the upcoming NATO summit in Vilnius.
"President Biden and Secretary General Stoltenberg will review preparations for the summit, including work to further strengthen the Alliance's deterrence and defense posture, fulfill the defense investment commitments made at the 2014 Wales Summit, and deepen partnerships among NATO members.
They will also discuss Allied support for Ukraine in the face of Russia's brutal war of aggression," the White House spokeswoman said.
Stoltenberg, who has led NATO since 2014, announced earlier this year that he would step down when his current term expires at the end of September.
The struggle for his successor has intensified ahead of the July 11-12 NATO leaders' summit in Vilnius.
