British intelligence analyzes the level of Russian losses

Aug 5, 2024

Over the past two months, the average daily losses of Russians in killed and wounded have decreased from the highest level in the entire period of the full-scale war - from more than 1,262 people per day in May to 1,140 people in July 2024.

This is stated in the British Ministry of Defense's intelligence review of the Russian-Ukrainian war, according to Yevropeiska Pravda.

Despite this decline, the last three months have seen the highest losses for Russian troops since February 2022, according to reports from the Ukrainian General Staff.

The decrease in the daily average is likely an indication that Russian troops are consolidating their positions in the Kharkiv sector. While this new approach has increased pressure on the front, effective Ukrainian defense and a lack of Russian training reduces Russia's ability to exploit any tactical successes to gain broader operational advantages.

Russian troop casualties are likely to continue to average over 1,000 per day through August 2024 as Russia continues offensive operations on a broad front from Kharkiv in the north to Robotyn in southern Ukraine.
