By June 1, most of the Wagnerites move to rear camps and leave Bakhmut

The head of the Wagner PMC announced the beginning of the withdrawal of his units from Bakhmut and the transfer of positions to the Russian military. Yevgeny Prigozhin announced the capture of Ukrainian Bakhmut on May 20.

Ukraine has not officially confirmed the city's surrender.

By June 1, Prigozhin said, most of Wagner's men would be relocated to rear camps.
