Canada imposes a new package of sanctions against Russia

Canada has announced new sanctions against Russia. The restrictions include universities, public organizations and individuals.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Canada.

It is noted that the reason for the imposition of sanctions is the involvement of individuals and legal entities in the Kremlin-backed illegal and forced mass deportation of Ukrainian children, Russian disinformation, and the Russian nuclear sector.

The list of legal entities under sanctions:

  • Global Policy Research Foundation;
  • Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper;
  • Russian Geographical Society;
  • Moscow State Institute of International Relations;
  • National Committee for BRICS Studies;
  • Russian Institute for Strategic Studies;
  • Center for Support and Development of the Creative Diplomacy Public Initiative;
  • University Higher School of Economics;
  • Russian International Affairs Council;
  • Valdai Club;
  • Vladimir Tochmash Joint Stock Company;
  • Kovrovsky Mechanical Plant PJSC;
  • Young Guard of the United Russia party;
  • Yunarmiya.

The restrictions were imposed on the Ombudsman for Children's Rights in Yakutia Tuyaara Vasilieva, the Ombudsman for Children's Rights in the Tyumen Region Andrey Stepanov, and the Children's Ombudsman in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug Lyudmila Nizamova.

Other sanctions were imposed against:

  • the head of the Republic of Mordovia, Artem Zdunov;
  • Nikita Nagorny, Chief of the General Staff of the Yunarmiya;
  • Anton Demidov, head of the United Russia Young Guard;
  • Eleonora Fedorenko, adviser to the head of the "DPR" on children's rights;
  • Russian scientist and political scientist Vasily Kashin;
  • Yevgeny Primakov, head of the Russian Cooperation Agency.
