Croatia has begun the process of purchasing CAESAR self-propelled artillery systems and intends to purchase American HIMARS missile systems as part of the modernization of the country's armed forces.

The Prime Minister noted that investments in the army will continue, as "we realize how important security is."

"Croatia has started the process of purchasing 155-mm CAESAR self-propelled howitzers. The plan also includes the purchase of powerful American HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, the purchase of modern Western tanks for the Croatian army, and, most importantly in this context, the modernization and equipping of the Croatian Navy," Plenković said.

According to him, Croatia should be able to rely on its own forces, as well as "strengthen and multiply its international position both within NATO and within the EU."
