Over the past week, the Russian occupiers have seized another 5% of the territory of Bakhmut and now control 65%. This means that the Defense Forces control a little over a third of the city. This was reported by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) in its latest report on Russian aggression in Ukraine.
A fighter of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who is fighting in the city and runs the Telegram channel "Peredovych0k", also recorded the advance of the invaders in his report for the past day:
"Today it's hell in the central part of the city, where the strongest PMC soldiers are concentrated, who are still alive at this stage by a miracle. Therefore, they have made minor advances in the central part of the city, but now the assault has slightly decreased in intensity, probably they are gathering forces.
There are still battles on Mariupolska Street with varying success, but the enemy cannot advance further at this stage.
The enemy is also focusing on Korsunsky Street, where there were also intense assault operations, and has repeatedly tried to find a gap in the defense.
At this stage, the occupiers are making minor advances in that sector, but we are not allowing them to gain a foothold. We will resolve the situation in the near future.
