Dutch Foreign Minister Wopke Hoekstra said that the Netherlands understands the need to bring Russia to justice in order to make peace after the Russian-Ukrainian war truly lasting, and will help in this regard.

According to Yevropeiska Pravda, he said this at a joint briefing with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in The Hague.

"Illegal wars cannot go unpunished, there can be no peace without justice. This is the only response to aggression and crimes related to aggression. We must ensure a lasting peace. This is what the world has learned and a lesson that we must apply today," emphasized Hoekstra.

The minister reminded that the Netherlands is sending experts to Ukraine to help document evidence of war crimes for further trials.

He added that the road to the moment when the perpetrators will be brought to justice for their actions may be difficult and long.

"We will continue to support your struggle for freedom, sovereignty, and a just peace. Your day of victory is just around the corner," Hoekstra concluded.
