On Thursday, the European Commission reiterated its calls for China to play a constructive role in establishing peace in Ukraine.
This was stated by the EU's foreign policy service after a meeting between senior EU diplomat Enrique Mora and China's Special Representative for Eurasian Affairs and former ambassador to Russia Li Hui, Evropeiska Pravda reports.
"The EU expects China, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, to play a constructive role... and to recall the need to respect the principles of sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity... by unconditionally withdrawing all forces and military equipment from the entire territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders," the EU statement said.
At the meeting, Mora emphasized Russia's full responsibility for its unprovoked and unjustified aggression against Ukraine. He emphasized that Ukraine is exercising its right to self-defense, and the European Union is committed to supporting Ukraine in the long term.
