Today, on September 5, the first legally binding international agreement on artificial intelligence (AI) concluded between countries, including members of the European Union, the United States, and the United Kingdom, is opening for signature.
This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Reuters.
Earlier, the initiative was supported by the Council of Europe human rights organization, which has been working on the convention for several years.
It is reported that the Convention will focus on managing risks arising from the use of AI systems while supporting innovations in this area. It was adopted in May after lengthy discussions involving 57 countries.
UK Minister of Justice Shabana Mahmood emphasized the importance of this agreement.
“This Convention is an important step towards ensuring that these new technologies can be used without undermining our long-standing values of human rights and the rule of law,” said UK Justice Minister Shabana Mahmood in a statement.
