Apr 18, 2023

The cost of the second package of support from the European Commission for farmers from five countries affected by the influx of imports of Ukrainian agricultural products will amount to EUR 100 million.

This was reported by Polish Radio.

In the coming days, the European Commission will decide on the allocation of a second support package for farmers in five EU countries. Poland is expected to receive almost a third of the €100 million package: about €30 million.

The Commission is taking this step after Poland, Hungary, and Slovakia decided to ban imports of agricultural goods from Ukraine. Bulgaria is considering a similar decision.

At the same time, the European Commission is holding talks with Poland and Hungary on the ban on grain imports from Ukraine. And on Tuesday, April 25, this will be one of the topics of the meeting of EU agriculture ministers in Luxembourg.

The money for financial support of farmers will come from the EU budget, from the anti-crisis reserve. Five countries will have the opportunity to double this amount through subsidies from their national budgets.
