France has reacted to the escalation of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and demands an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council due to the current situation.
This is stated in a statement by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to Yevropeiska Pravda.
The Foreign Ministry emphasized that France "condemns in the strongest terms the launch of Azerbaijan's military operation in Nagorno-Karabakh."
"No pretext can justify such unilateral actions, which threaten thousands of civilians already affected by the months-long illegal blockade and contradict the efforts of the international community to reach a negotiated settlement," the statement said.
France calls on Azerbaijan to immediately cease hostilities and "holds Azerbaijan fully responsible for the fate of the civilian population of Nagorno-Karabakh."
"France calls for the urgent convening of the UN Security Council. It is working closely with its European and American partners to ensure a decisive response to this unacceptable attack, commensurate with the risks it poses to the security of the region," the French Foreign Ministry added.
