US Vice President Kamala Harris is ahead of former President Donald Trump in three of the most important states that are key to winning the 2024 elections.
These are the findings of a new poll by The New York Times/Siena College, published on Saturday, Yevropeiska Pravda reports.
The poll was conducted from August 5 to 9 among potential voters in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. They were asked about their attitudes toward Harris and Trump.
When asked who they would vote for if the election were held today, 50% of voters favored Harris versus 46% for Trump. This is a marked improvement over President Joe Biden, who withdrew his candidacy in favor of Harris.
Including third-party candidates and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Harris remains ahead by 5 percentage points in Michigan, 2 percentage points in Pennsylvania, and 6 percentage points in Wisconsin. Kennedy Jr, who is losing popularity, has an average of only 4-5 percent support.
The poll found that Harris is benefiting from rising popularity among voters in each state, while favorability for Trump has improved slightly in all three states.
Notably, 47 percent of voters surveyed said Trump would introduce changes that would be "very bad" or "somewhat bad" for the country, compared to 37 percent of voters who said the same for Harris.
