IAEA reported new explosions at Zaporizhzhya NPP

Sep 28, 2022

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi reported about new shelling on the territory of Zaporizhzhya NPP. This is reported by UNN with reference to the IAEA press service.

"This week, new shelling and explosions occurred on the territory of the Zaporizhzhia NPP, which broke windows in one of the turbine halls, which once again emphasizes the urgent need to create a security zone around the station," Grossi said.

Grossi noted that the attack occurred for the first time after several days of calm.

"This suggests that the overall situation remains fragile and immediate action is needed to reduce the risk of a major accident at Europe's largest nuclear power plant, which is currently in the middle of a war zone," he stressed.

The General Staff reported that the situation at Zaporizhzhya NPP remains tense. Employees of the plant do not want to cooperate with the enemy and are trying to leave the temporarily occupied territories.
