Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs believes that Ukraine's defeat in the war against Russia could lead to world war III.
The president said this in an interview with Welt.
The Latvian leader believes that if Russia sees that the West is not united and that it does not support Ukraine enough, then it should "start to fear" that there will be further provocations by Russia, in particular against NATO members.
"If Ukraine is not able to defend itself, if it loses, then this will actually open the way to a world war. If the aggressor is not stopped, the aggressor will go as far as he can," Rinkēvičs said.
He added that the best way to prevent world war III is to help Ukraine with all our might.
"We must give Ukraine everything it asks for. We must do everything necessary to strengthen Ukraine and its endurance," the Latvian president said.-
Latvia has been one of Ukraine's most active allies since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion. It provides both military and political assistance to our country.
Recently, the former Latvian Minister of Defense, Ināra Mūrniece, said that the country allocates more than 1% of its national GDP for humanitarian and military assistance to Ukraine.
