On December 15, Kosovo officially applied for full membership in the European Union.
This is reported by European Pravda.
In Prague, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti handed Pristina's application to Mikulas Beck, the Czech minister for European Affairs, who now chairs the EU Council.
On Dec. 14, Kosovo leaders signed the application document and called the moment "historic."
Kosovo is the latest country in the Western Balkans region to apply for candidate status. However, unlike other countries in the region, Kosovo's case is a specific one, as it is applying for membership from a country that is not recognized by five EU states. These states are Spain, Cyprus, Greece, Slovakia, and Romania.
