Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said that the presence of the Wagner group in Belarus creates security risks that we need to be prepared for.
The Lithuanian minister said this in an interview with LRT, cited by Delfi.
He called the "Wagnerians" in Belarus "an additional danger factor" that creates instability and worsens security.
"And all the arguments that we are publicly told: that Western intelligence has 'eyes' in both Belarus and Russia, that they see all the movements, that we should be calm, nothing will happen suddenly - the movement of the Wagner group shows that things do happen suddenly," Landsbergis emphasized.
He also suggested that Russia and Belarus may not have control over the group at all.
"These are two unstable states, and it's hard to say how much control they have over these private armies and what they can do. And we must be very clear about the first message: this is a danger factor, and the second message is that we have to be prepared for it," the Lithuanian Foreign Minister emphasized.
He called for preparing for possible threats and strengthening military capabilities.
