This is reported by Ukrinform concerning Delfi.

"Closing these checkpoints will not affect the movement of cargo transport, as either empty cargo vehicles or citizens pass through the specified border points," said the head of the State Border Guard Service of Lithuania, Rustamas Lyubaevas.

He added that in the first 6 months of 2023, 800,000 Belarusians came to Lithuania. Lyubaevas also noted that despite the danger warned by the Department of State Security and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, 230,000 Lithuanian citizens visited Belarus during this time.

The Lithuanian broadcaster LRT clarifies that Lyubaevas would approve the closure of more points, as it would "allow to reduce the flow of, let's say, undesirable persons."
