Lithuanian Navy to hold large-scale exercise "Storm Strike - 2023"

From June 5 to June 11, the Lithuanian Navy will conduct the largest exercise in 2023, Storm Strike 2023.

This was reported by Yevropeiska Pravda with reference to the press service of the Lithuanian Armed Forces.

The exercises will take place in the Baltic Sea, near the port of Klaipeda, on the Curonian Spit, and on Nemyrsėta Beach. They will also be partially linked to NATO's largest international exercise in the Baltic Sea, Baltops 23.

It is noted that on June 11, an amphibious operation of Italian, Polish, and Romanian marines will take place on Nemirseta Beach. They will land from the Italian Navy landing ship San Marco and the Polish Navy landing ship Torun.

The exercises will be attended by servicemen of the Lithuanian army and allies from Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania with ships, aircraft and other military equipment. Members of the Lithuanian Riflemen's Association, representatives of the country's State Border Guard Service, the Department of Mobilization and Civil Resistance, and the Klaipeda State Seaport Authority will also take part in the exercise.

The exercise will focus on mine countermeasures, maritime interdiction operations, countering asymmetric, air, surface, and underwater threats, amphibious operations, and port security and defense.

"The purpose of the exercise is to enable the participating units to train in confined spaces and shallow waters, achieve the objectives of the exercise and prevent incidents," the statement said.
