Lithuanian parliament calls for complete isolation of Russia

On Tuesday, the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania adopted a resolution "On Limiting Russia's Terrorist Influence," in which it called on partner states to prepare steps for "complete international isolation" of Russia.

In the document, Lithuanian parliamentarians call on the European Union and its member states to jointly create and expand the legal framework "for recognizing states as state sponsors of terrorism and state that use terrorist means," which should include Russia.

The Seimas of Lithuania also calls on the EU to prevent any circumvention of sanctions, investigate such violations and bring the perpetrators to justice by appointing a responsible member of the European Commission.


The EU is also asked to finalize the legal regime for confiscating frozen Russian assets as soon as possible and to create an international mechanism for compensating Ukraine for the damage caused by Russian aggression.

"(The Sejm - ed.) calls on its allies in the European Union and NATO to make every effort to initiate a comprehensive international isolation of the Russian Federation, in particular with regard to its membership in international organizations and bodies (UN and others), by closing down and banning it from international organizations and bodies. ), by closing and banning institutions associated with the Russian state that could be used to spread disinformation and propaganda or for similar purposes in member states, as well as by limiting Russia's influence in other areas, including the economy, finance, science, culture, sports, tourism, social media, etc." the resolution reads.
