NATO ambassadors to meet Wednesday under Article 4 of the NATO Treaty
Ambassadors of NATO member states will meet on Wednesday at Poland's request under Article 4 of the NATO Treaty - the discussion will concern explosions on Polish territory, probably caused by Russian missiles.
Two European diplomats told Reuters.
One of the diplomats said NATO would proceed with caution and require time to verify exactly how the incident occurred.
Earlier, Poland announced that it was studying the grounds for invoking Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty. According to it, the parties "will hold joint consultations when, in the opinion of any of them, the territorial integrity, political independence or security of any of the Parties is threatened".
As Reuters notes, another meeting of NATO ambassadors was to be held on Wednesday.
