North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) employees have been officially banned from downloading the social network TikTok to their work devices, citing security concerns.
Two informed NATO officials told CNN.
According to CNN's interlocutors, on Friday morning, NATO officials sent a message to staff announcing the TikTok ban. Although this is an official ban on the Chinese app, it has not been used on NATO-issued devices before due to internal technical limitations.
"Cybersecurity is a top priority for NATO. NATO has strict requirements for determining which applications are allowed for official use in its work. TikTok is not available on NATO devices," the CNN source emphasized.
