Orban plays for the enemy team in Russia's war against Ukraine

Sep 3, 2024

Hungary, headed by Prime Minister Viktor Orban, does not act like most Western countries regarding Russia's aggressive war in Ukraine, and even “plays” for the enemy.

This was stated by Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsakhkna, quoted by ERR.

Tsakhkna believes that Orban is talking to his voters in Hungary in a completely different way than “agreed in Europe.”

“Unfortunately, it is in this issue that Orban has really started playing for the opposing team,” he said.

Journalists asked the Estonian foreign minister why the EU, which is currently presided over by Hungary, cannot do anything about it, and Tsakhkna assured them that it could: The EU “can still do something”.

“The procedure under Article 7 of the EU Treaty has been initiated, which would mean suspension of the voting rights of a member state. I don't believe this will happen because it requires the consent of all 26 countries, but at least we want to create a situation in the near future where 21 countries can move forward in this process,” he explained.

Tszakna added that the behavior of the Hungarian prime minister does not bring any benefit.
