Head of the U.S. Department of Defense Lloyd Austin said that the U.S. side does not yet see any signs of Russia preparing a provocation using a "dirty bomb," which it accuses Ukraine of doing.
According to European Pravda, Austin said this at a briefing Thursday introducing the U.S. National Defense Strategy.
"We have seen nothing to indicate that Putin has made a decision to use a dirty bomb. Nor have we seen any indication that Ukraine is planning such a thing. In fact, the Ukrainian authorities have told us that they have no such plans," the Pentagon chief said.
He stressed that it was important for the U.S. to talk to both allies and adversaries to ensure that we reduce the degree of dangerous rhetoric and maintain channels of communication.
