Poland expects to receive up to 900 million euros for weapons

Following a meeting of the European Council on Friday, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced that the country will become the largest beneficiary of the European Peace Fund, which will compensate for the cost of weapons transferred to Ukraine.

Morawiecki's words were quoted by the PAP news agency.

According to the Polish prime minister, by Easter (April 9), Poland will receive up to 300 million euros in compensation from the European Peace Fund, and in the following months - another 500-600 million euros, that is, 800-900 million euros in total.

"Instead of the old weapons that we gave to Ukraine, we will be able to buy very modern weapons, ammunition, and create new technological lines for the production of ammunition and various types of weapons for European money," he said.

Morawiecki emphasized that Poland will be the largest beneficiary of the European Peace Fund. "This is a huge success for Poland, it's very important, it's what we wanted from the very beginning, and I'm glad we managed to do it," he added.
