Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said during a visit to the United States that Warsaw wants to produce shells with depleted uranium for Abrams tanks.
This was reported by the Interia Wydarzenia outlet.
The head of the Polish government also hopes that American business will come to Poland along with the supply of Abrams.
"I spoke with the military, the factory management about the possibility of placing a factory in Poland that will repair and service Abrams tanks all over Europe. Up to now they have been used mainly by the U.S. military (stationed) in Europe, but with our purchase we will be one of the main users," he said.
Morawiecki specified that on Tuesday at the White House he discussed with U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris the creation of a base to maintain the Abrams.
According to the prime minister, he would like to see Polish technical thought used to strengthen the alliance with the United States.
"I also insisted that depleted uranium ammunition cores for Abrams be manufactured in Poland," he stressed.-
As a reminder, Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak said Poland could become a service center for American Abrams tanks, which belong not only to it, but also to other European countries.
