Poland plans to start building a fence with an electronic barrier on the border with the Kaliningrad region in March.
This is reported by Forsal.pl.
The electronic system at the site with the Kaliningrad region will run along about 200 kilometers of land border.
A spokesman for the Polish Border Guard Anna Michalska said that the contractor, which is engaged in the installation of electronic barriers, is now preparing a draft, which will be submitted for approval. According to her, the installation of the barrier should begin in March this year.
The fence will be equipped with a system of sensors and cameras, which allows 24-hour control of the border, regardless of weather conditions, without the need to be at the borderline.
According to Polish border guards, the border with Russia is stable and calm. According to Miroslava Aleksandrowicz, spokesman for the Warmia-Mazury Border Guard Department, last year there were 11 cases of illegal border crossing from Russia to Poland.
