Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda said that Vladimir Putin is "naked," and the short-lived rebellion led by the head of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, shows serious threats to his regime.
Nauseda also noted that he is growing concerned about his own country's national security.
"The sequence of events has shown that the king is naked and that military columns of this size can go far enough to pose a fundamental threat to the (Russian) regime," the president said after a meeting of the Lithuanian National Defense Council.
Considerable emphasis is placed on the situation in Belarus, where Yevgeny Prigozhin has moved, the Lithuanian president's office said.
During the meeting, they agreed that "the threat of illegal activities on the Lithuanian-Belarusian border, including various provocations, is growing." They also noted that this requires "strengthening the security of the eastern borders of Lithuania and NATO."
