Russian dictator Vladimir Putin wants to publicly show his affection for Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov. Especially amid rumors of Kadyrov's possible illness.
This is reported with reference to a report by the Institute for the Study of War.
The Kremlin showed an alleged meeting between Putin and Kadyrov on September 28. This happened amid rumors about the condition of the head of Chechnya and the deterioration of Kadyrov's image due to a video of his son beating a prisoner. At the same time, the dictator "highly praised" the actions of Chechens in Ukraine.
The last meeting between Putin and Kadyrov took place on March 23. According to analysts, the head of Chechnya looked nervous then. Today's meeting is likely an attempt by the Kremlin to support Kadyrov. Especially after the unsuccessful rebellion of the Wagner forces.
"Putin’s meeting with Kadyrov is likely a reciprocation of Kadyrov’s expressions of loyalty to Putin following Wagner’s armed rebellion on June 24 and signals Putin’s willingness to continue supporting Kadyrov despite recent events," the report says.
As a reminder, a number of news outlets have recently reported serious health problems for Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov. According to media reports, Kadyrov has serious kidney problems. The Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense stated that the head of Chechnya is now in serious condition.
