The ongoing concern about the health of the head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, in the Russian information space emphasizes the dependence of Russian President Vladimir Putin on maintaining stability in the region.
This is reported with reference to the ISW report.
According to experts, the destabilization of Kadyrov's rule in Chechnya would be a serious blow to Putin's regime, partly because of how important it was for Putin's early popularity in Russia to establish stability in Chechnya through a brutal and bloody war.
Analysts say that Putin, without Kadyrov, will likely have a hard time ensuring stability in Chechnya. Officials in Russia should be concerned that information about Kadyrov's illness could affect the long-term stability of the government's control over Chechnya.
Earlier, Ukraine's intelligence service said that Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov is currently in serious condition due to illness.
