Republicans want to increase control of aid to Ukraine

Nov 28, 2022

Two Republican lawmakers have promised to tighten control over military aid to Ukraine after their party wins a majority in the U.S. House of Representatives in January.

Bloomberg writes this.

"We're going to provide more oversight, transparency, and accountability," said Michael McCole, who is running for chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee

Mike Turner, the senior Republican on the Intelligence Committee, was critical of the fact that only a fraction of the $40 billion in Democratic-led House aid passed in May went directly into arming Ukraine.

"This is American taxpayer money going to Ukraine. Does that diminish our desire to help the Ukrainian people fight? No, but we will do it responsibly," he said.
