Russia attacks energy system facilities in Sumy region

Last night, Sumy region was subjected to a massive air strike by enemy Shahed kamikaze drones. The attack targeted energy infrastructure facilities in Konotop, Okhtyrka and Sumy districts.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the press services of the Sumy Regional Power Administration and Sumyoblenergo.

The shelling damaged critical infrastructure facilities, including water utilities and hospitals. They are currently connected to backup power systems.

Air defense forces shot down 16 Shaheds over Sumy region. Emergency crews are working to restore power in the affected areas, including Sumy, Konotop, Okhtyrka and other districts.

As of 7 a.m. on September 17, 281,072 consumers in the region are still without electricity. The specialists of JSC “Sumyoblenergo” are working to restore the supply as soon as possible.
