The situation in the Kherson sector remains tense, said Natalia Gumenyuk, spokeswoman for the Southern Defense Forces, during a national telethon on May 11.

"The enemy continues shelling even though it is still feeling the pushback from our side and is trying to take positions very carefully because it feels uneasy in this area, which we are working on," she said.

According to Humeniuk, Russian forces are densely mining the left bank of the Dnipro River in an attempt to prevent the Defense Forces from crossing the river and further land.

Rechnia also pointed to the evacuation of the local population as evidence that the invaders are trying to set up a defense line.

"But their panic is evident and lies in the fact that they do not know from which direction to expect the maximum force of the attack, and that is why they are spreading their efforts both to the Zaporizhzhya and Kherson directions," added Humeniuk.

The day before, the spokesman for the Kherson regional military administration, Oleksandr Tolokonnikov, told Radio Liberty that Russian soldiers on the occupied left bank of the Kherson region are constantly wearing body armor and carrying weapons, and their mood is "very depressed."
