Russians again attacked Kyiv with Iranian drones: there are casualties

Russian troops attacked Kyiv again Monday morning, October 17, with Iranian kamikaze drones. An air-raid alert was sounded in several regions.

At least two explosions are known to have occurred in Kyiv’s Shevchenkivskyi district, the capital’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, said, RBC-Ukraine reports.

The attack caused a fire in a non-residential building. Emergency units are working. Several residential buildings were damaged. Medics are on site. Information about the casualties is being clarified.

Later on, it became known that a apartment building was hit, too. As a consequence, there was an explosion in the building. There are people under the rubble.

“As a result of an attack by kamikaze drones in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the capital there was an explosion in an apartment building. At present, 18 people have been rescued from it. According to preliminary information, two residents remain under the rubble. Rescue work continues. We are specifying the information if there are fatalities,” Vitali Klitschko said.

Meanwhile, adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs Anton Gerashchenko published a video from the place of the hit of the drone. According to him, people’s voices can be heard under the rubble.

In addition, the mayor noted that now in the center of the capital traffic is blocked in several streets. He also urged residents not to go to the center of Kyiv without an urgent need.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on Telegram: “All night and all morning the enemy has been terrorizing civilians. Kamikaze drones and missiles are attacking all of Ukraine.

As the president noted, “the enemy can hit our cities, but he will not be able to break us. Only fair punishment and condemnation for future generations awaits the occupiers. Victory will be ours”.
