Russians spread fake news about the surrender of Kharkiv region

Aug 8, 2024

Hostile TG channels are spreading information about alleged preparations to surrender Kharkiv region to the occupiers. This, according to the Russians, is evidenced by the alleged decision of the Ministry of Education of Ukraine to dismiss 10,000 teachers in the eastern regions, including Kharkiv region, "where only 40-50 schools will remain."

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCI).

Russian propaganda also claims that the number of children studying remotely will increase significantly.

The CPC checked the information in the Kharkiv Regional State Administration and concluded that the message spread by the Russians is not true.

The Center explained that, in fact, the draft Order No. 850 on general secondary education under martial law, which is planned to be introduced in the 2025-2026 school year, is currently being discussed. "It provides for a reduction in the school network, but with the transfer of teachers to the personnel reserve with salary retention," the statement said.

It is also planned to reduce distance learning and switch to offline or mixed formats, and the number of distance classes with Ukrainian language for children abroad will increase, the Center for Educational Policy reported.

They emphasized that the enemy is trying to cause a negative attitude towards government agencies on the part of Ukrainian society by such manipulations.
