Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó has once again sharply criticized U.S. Ambassador David Pressman, saying that he is engaged in "war propaganda," while Budapest is on the side of peace.
Szijjarto's words are quoted by the Telex edition.
The day before, the US ambassador to Hungary gave an interview to AFP, in which he criticized Budapest's silence about the causes of the war in Ukraine and instead promoted the fight against "culture wars" and "leftism".
"In Hungary, unfortunately, they prefer to talk about a fake cultural war, while there is a real war going on next door, where thousands of people are dying in Vladimir Putin's aggressive war. And it's not about leftism. It's about Russia," the diplomat emphasized.
Pressman also personally criticized the Hungarian Foreign Minister, who, according to him, has made five visits to Moscow since February 2022, and the spread of Kremlin disinformation in the country.
In response, Szijjarto said that the American ambassador was promoting war, while Hungary does not want war, but peace.
"We understand that the Americans are trying to push us to propagandize war, we understand that they are trying to push us to the war camp, but we belong to the peace camp," he said.
