The US State Department has answered questions about the possibility of NATO allies shooting down missiles over the territory of Ukraine.
This was stated at a briefing by State Department spokesman Matthew Miller, Yevropeiska Pravda reports.
Miller was asked about the recent statement by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who instructed diplomats to work within the NATO-Ukraine Council to create a coalition of neighboring states to help shoot down Russian missiles over Ukrainian territory.
"So, this is a discussion that, like all discussions in NATO, is a discussion between NATO members and a decision that NATO will make collectively. It's not something I can talk about," the State Department official said.
He was also asked about the possible expansion of the authorization for Ukraine to strike deep into Russian territory with Western weapons, to which Miller replied that the United States is constantly studying the needs of the Ukrainian military, assessing the security situation and trying to respond to their needs.
"This is a process that we've been going through from the very beginning, and we're doing that process both with respect to the specific weapons that we provide to Ukraine and the restrictions, if any, that we place on the use of those weapons," he added.-
