The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday rejected a motion by the state of Missouri to postpone the sentencing of Donald Trump in New York on criminal charges related to hush money payments to a porn star.
This was reported by Reuters, according to Yevropeiska Pravda.
The judges made the decision in response to a lawsuit filed by the state of Missouri, which claimed that the case against Trump violated the right of voters under the US Constitution to hear the Republican presidential candidate.
In May, Trump was found guilty of falsifying business records to conceal a $130,000 payment to porn star Stormy Daniels in exchange for her silence before the 2016 US election about a sexual encounter she said she had with Trump years earlier. Prosecutors said the payment was intended to help Trump improve his chances in the 2016 election, when he defeated Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
