The Swedish government is preparing the thirteenth aid package for Ukraine worth almost 290 million euros.
This was reported by SVT.
Defense Minister Paul Johnson announced at a special press conference that the government proposes to provide Ukraine with a military aid package worth SEK 3.4 billion (approximately EUR 287 million).
Among other things, it includes ammunition and spare parts for the Stridsfordon 90 and Archer systems, as well as trucks and demining equipment.
The minister thanked the parties in parliament for the "good dialogue" on approving the package and expressed hope that the Riksdag would approve the proposal this week.
"The counteroffensive is now in its active phase. We have to prepare for the fact that this war will be protracted and have a long-term perspective so that we can support the weapons and systems we are transferring," said Paul Johnson.
The minister emphasized that it is important to support Ukrainian air defense. In this regard, it is proposed to sell AMRAAM air-to-air missiles to the United States to be transferred to Ukraine.
Paul Johnson noted that after this assistance is provided, the readiness of the Swedish army will deteriorate in the short term, but this should be corrected as soon as possible.
