The Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned Russian Ambassador to Stockholm Viktor Tatarintsev over a statement threatening to join NATO.
This was reported by the Swedish TV channel SVT.
The reason for the Foreign Ministry's decision was a post published by the Russian Embassy on Tuesday evening. It refers to possible negative consequences of Sweden's accession to NATO.
The post, among other things, states that the new members of the hostile bloc will become a legitimate target for Russian retaliatory measures, including military ones.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will summon the Russian ambassador to speak out clearly against this obvious attempt at influence," said Foreign Minister Tobias Bylstrom.
The minister added that Sweden's security policy is determined by Sweden and no one else.
